Minor Set Back

For Robotics Team 230, the robot build season was right around the corner and seemed like it would go as planned. However, alternative plans had to be made when a fire occurred at the school on Tuesday, December 30th, causing the school to be closed to all faculty and staff.

Students and staff were informed that Thursday that the school would be closed until Monday, January 12, a full week after students were scheduled to return. This left the team without a place to meet for the kickoff and critical strategizing period. With only a six week build season, the team would be at a large disadvantage, if an entire week of prototyping, designing, and strategizing was taken away due to the fire.

Luckily, thanks to a local business, the team was able to come together and watch the kickoff. Precise Circuits, stepped in and provided the Gaelhawks with a roof to meet under. The business is owned by Tom Misencik, a team mentor and parent. The day of the kickoff, the building was filled with laptops, allowing team members to view the kickoff and analyze the rules.

While the team is still without access to many of its materials and tools, thanks to the generosity of Mr. Misencik, the team will be able to meet as planned.
